iLivestock has been featured in a special business and investment report on Scotland in the globally renowned newspaper, USA TODAY. The 8-page feature highlights Scotland’s economic growth and innovation across key sectors including banking, industry, renewable energy, tourism, fintech—and crucially, agriculture and food production.

Being included in this high-profile report is a major milestone for iLivestock, emphasising the company’s credibility, global relevance, and the growing impact of its technology in transforming livestock farming. The feature places iLivestock alongside leading Scottish figures such as First Minister Hon. John Swinney, CEOs from Scottish Enterprise and Scotland Food & Drink, and senior academics from top universities—a clear signal of the company’s prominence in the sector.

Scottish agritech has long been recognised for innovation, particularly in dairy. Until recently, however, sheep and beef farming had seen limited adoption of technology, constrained by Scotland’s vast, remote landscapes, limited internet connectivity, and challenging climate. iLivestock has addressed this gap with a unique software platform available on iOS, Android, and online, integrated with hardware such as Bluetooth weight indicators, weigh bars, crates, and electronic identification (EID) tags.

“When people think of agritech, they imagine robots, but outside dairy, that’s not very relevant,” says Ewen Wardman, CEO of iLivestock. “Farmers need smart solutions that act like a co-pilot, helping them make better decisions from farm data. If you can build agritech that works effectively in Scotland and adds real value, it’s likely to succeed anywhere in the world.”

“Our product targets farmers who currently don’t use technology, but new legislation—like mandatory EID tags or deforestation-free supply chains—means they need to,” Wardman adds. “By capturing data as simply as ordering a pizza, we help farmers make smarter decisions, improving profitability and sustainability. Strategic partners can also see how products like medicines affect animals in real time. Our approach has the potential to transform traditional farming globally.”

Since July 2024, iLivestock has raised $3.1 million in funding, grown revenues by 700%, and won multiple awards, including the KPMG Tech Innovation and Scotland’s Life Sciences Awards. The company has also begun exporting to Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Canada, South Africa, Spain, France, Serbia, and Romania through exclusive partnerships with major players in those markets.

“Scottish families produce some of the world’s most respected beef and sheep products. I see agritech as a co-pilot for traditional farmers,” Wardman explains. “We’re considering a US entry carefully because we want to do it properly. iLivestock’s growth is happening fast, but ensuring we have the resources to maintain support in markets like the US is key before entering. Our SaaS model isn’t just about the product—it’s about supporting farmers and distributors over the long term.”
