For Cornwall farmer Rachael Bromage, accurate livestock records are playing an increasingly important role in improving both animal performance and everyday farm efficiency.

Farming near Falmouth, Rachael manages Limousin-cross suckler cattle alongside a flock of pedigree Lleyn sheep, while also supporting her local veterinary practice with medicine deliveries and TB testing work.

Using iLivestock across both cattle and sheep enterprises, Rachael says the system has helped simplify medicine logging, weight monitoring and breeding management.

“It’s made my life a lot easier,” says Rachael. “I’m much more efficient and accurate. I don’t forget stuff.”

By regularly recording weights through the app, Rachael has also been able to identify health challenges sooner and respond more quickly.

“Checking my app, I could immediately see they had all lost the same amount of weight,” she explains after noticing lamb performance had dipped. “An egg count confirmed they had quite a worm burden.”

Alongside helping improve animal health monitoring, Rachael says having records available instantly on her phone has made inspections and compliance checks far less stressful.

From BCMS reporting to linking calves and lambs directly to their mothers in the field, digital records have become part of the farm’s daily routine.
