Asunción, Paraguay / Edinburgh, UK – British agri-tech company iLivestock has signed an exclusive partnership with Covepa, a leading agricultural distributor in Paraguay, to bring its innovative livestock management platform to local sheep and cattle farmers. The collaboration aims to dramatically reduce the cost of effective farm data capture, improve traceability, and increase productivity for livestock producers across the country.

The agreement will see Covepa become the exclusive distributor of iLivestock’s suite of hardware and software products in Paraguay, including the eWeigh, eTagReader, and the iLivestock mobile platform. The partnership comes at a critical time for the Paraguayan farming sector, as the government’s mandate for electronic identification (EID) tags for cattle took effect in February 2025.

Covepa, known for its personalised technical support and wide-ranging expertise in animal health, nutrition, genetics, and management tools, will play a key role in introducing iLivestock’s technology to the local market. With around 14 million head of cattle and 150,000 cattle farms, Paraguay represents a major opportunity for digital transformation in livestock management.

Luiz Fernando Godoy Novaes, Owner & CEO of Covepa, said:
“Covepa’s mission has always been to stand alongside our farmers, offering solutions that truly make a difference on their farms. Partnering with iLivestock allows us to provide tools that are not only innovative but tailored to the realities of Paraguayan livestock production. Together, we’re investing in the success of our producers, today and for the future.”

“We’re proud to partner with Covepa to help bring smart, cost-effective livestock tools to Paraguayan farmers,” said Ewen Wardman, CEO & Co-Founder at iLivestock. “With their deep roots in the agricultural community and our scalable technology, we’re confident we can support both small-scale and export-oriented producers during this pivotal shift to digital compliance and better data management.”

Initial market research identified weight tracking and daily gain calculations as the most valued features for Paraguayan livestock producers, followed closely by traceability and ease of use. iLivestock’s user-friendly platform has been specifically designed to meet these needs, helping farmers improve on-farm decision-making and herd performance.

This partnership underscores the commitment from both companies to modernise the livestock industry in Paraguay by delivering accessible, impactful technology to farmers at every scale, with a focus on beef and sheep production.

Timed with Paraguay’s leading agricultural event, Expo Paraguay—held from 12 to 27 July at La Rural in Mariano Roque Alonso—the iLivestock and Covepa partnership officially launched on the first public day, 14 July, marking a key step forward for livestock technology in the country’s beef and sheep sectors.
